The Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament is the one who governs the entire world centered in Jerusalem with transcendent power. Still, the Messiah is depicted as a suffering servant, as recorded in Isaiah 53. In other words, the image of the Messiah reigning over the world with transcendent power indicates what will happen when Jesus returns as he ascended into heaven, and the image of the suffering servant refers to the incident in which Jesus came to this world as the Lamb to atone for human sins and died on the cross. Religious leaders such as scribes and priests who study the law were not able to realize the suffering of the servant because they interpreted the Old Testament written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in a human-centered manner without the illumination of the Holy Spirit. Thus they committed the dreadful sin of crucifying Jesus.

When the Roman soldiers had Simon of Cyrene carry the cross behind Jesus, Jesus said to the a great multitude of the people and of women who were mourning and lamenting for him, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.” (Lk23:28). Historically, in 70 AD, approximately 40 years after Jesus was crucified, Jerusalem was completely destroyed by the Roman army. The Jews roamed because they could not establish themselves in any country, and were persecuted wherever they went. Furthermore, it is estimated that approximately 6 million Jews were massacred in the Second World War.

The blessing is to believe in Jesus as Christ. To reject this blessing is humanity's greatest sin. Christianity is not a religion understood on the basis of comparison with other religions. To believe in Jesus, that is, to be Christian means to be in the midst of God's protection and guidance by being invited to a place where humans can enjoy God's blessings in God's kingdom for eternity. Therefore, believing in Jesus is the most important thing in our lives.
