The proper demeanor for those called by God is one of humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another in the love of Christ, and striving diligently to preserve the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Furthermore, those who have been called are to be united in their faith and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, reaching maturity to the full measure of Christ. This entails standing firm against human deception, cunning temptations, or any influences that follow worldly trends, distort the Word, or propagate philosophies and ideologies that compromise or misinterpret the truth. Instead, they are to unwaveringly proclaim the grace of salvation through Jesus Christ alone.
Just as the whole body, supported and joined together by every ligament, grows and builds itself up as each part performs its work, so too must those called by God encourage and strengthen one another in the love of Christ. In doing so, they contribute to the building of the church, the one body with Christ as its head. Practicing the truth in love means proclaiming the Gospel in the love of Christ, and growing into Christ signifies living a life of complete dependence on God and obedience to His Word, as Jesus fully depended on the Father and submitted to His will.
Nevertheless, whether it is believing in Jesus, building up the body of Christ, maintaining the appropriate attitude of the called, or growing into Christ, all of these are accomplished through God’s grace and love. Therefore, believers today humbly meditate on God’s Word, seek His will, and traverse this world as pilgrims, serving as disciples and soldiers of Jesus Christ, journeying toward their true home.
